Each lecture will be followed by working example problems and a software demonstration using HCS7 . Registration is provided in four sections (Streets, Unsignal, Freeways and Highways) with the Overview included with any registration and a discount for the entire series. Allowing unmet demand from one period to become the initial queue for the subsequent period is the only way to properly compute delay. The HCS7 Streets module automates this procedure with 15-minute count data coded directly or imported from any data collection tool. The new features include Alternative Intersections and Diverging Diamond Interchanges, as well as Travel Time Reliability for both Urban Streets and Freeway Facilities. You can access this video here: http://mctrans.ce.ufl.edu/videos/HCM6Overview.mp4 Just Ask about this or any other aspect of your analysis by emailing Bill Sampson at bsampson@ufl.edu or calling 352-294-3095 for direct access. A Roundabout Segment is now included to provide for the analysis of urban street segments with roundabouts as boundary intersections for travel speed and LOS. Both of these new features are implemented in the Highway Capacity Software ( HCS7 ) as of Release 7.1 for intersections and the Release 7.3 for segments. The coding within Streets is about thirty-five minutes long and the optimization overview is about seven minutes – so not too overwhelming in either case. Beyond the videos, we are here to answer questions and help you with your analysis needs – just ask! As an example, a recent analysis of a major urban arterial that included seven signals and a DDI over eight peak time periods yielded improvements to LOS from F to A, increased speed by 44%, decreased delay by 79% and lowered travel time from just under six minutes to just over two minutes! Did You Know that has been involved with the development of the Highway Capacity Manual to be able to implement the procedures in the Highway Capacity Software for about thirty years? With 15-20,000 end users of the HCS, we have heard and been able answer most questions immediately. Please don’t dig through the HCM or scratch your head trying to figure out how to analyze a particular intersection, highway or freeway. We stand ready to help code the data, explain results, resolve a problem or just review your analysis – just ask!
